Marriage Marriage has been termed as a sacred knot between two individuals. Same sex marriage has generated a new era of discussions and debates in the recent times. Marriage confers on you the sense of dependability and cannot be successful until both the partners are in love with each other. The society has casted a dark shadow on the individuals who opt for the same sex marriage. With the intervention of the courts in this regard, the matter has worsened over the span of time. There have been demonstrations from the masses against same sex marriage since this phrase came into existence. Two individuals of the opposite sexes have freedom to express their union in the society, then why this discrimination with the gay and lesbian marriages? This has been the primary concern in the minds of gays and lesbians worldwide. It is said that faith can never be imposed on any person and the political biasness towards heterosexual relationships depicts the society's sentiments at large. It needs a brave heart to formalize a gay relationship. It needs to be highlighted that same sex marriages are not necessarily gay marriages, which is a common perception in the minds of people. They believe that same sex marriages promote gay culture, hampering their orthodox beliefs. Marriage is the legal consent of two individuals to live together, irrespective of their sexual nature. A third party intervention would definitely be unfair and unjust. The gay activists have proposed that they need to attach a legal tag to their union. If the straight people want to call it a same sex marriage, they are free to do so. However, the new generation has shown greater support for same sex marriages than the older ones. Faith groups have been raising questions on the same sex marriages, accusing the gay and lesbian groups of violating the religious ethics. They argue that gay marriages would eventually lead to a downfall of the society. There have been testimonials on the mass discrimination of the families of gays and lesbians. They have been treated disrespectfully over a considerable period of time, which is, no doubt a serious issue. Same sex marriages have suffered marginal difficulties but have been sustained. Gay activists even argue to the point that same sex marriage lasts more than a heterosexual marriage. The social stigma attached to same sex marriages needs to be removed to give freedom to the proponents of same sex marriages. Same sex marriages have been popular both in the east and the west, in different periods of human civilization.
