| Gay Adoption
There has been a lack of proper upbringing in recent times for the orphans and homeless children around the world. Gay adoption might seem to be a relatively new term but has been in practice for a good number of decades. Due to the bans imposed on gay adoption in certain areas, gay couples often have to lie on one pretext or the other. The main cause of this non-disclosure of their identity is that their request for adoption is turned down more often than not. A majority of children who spend their childhood in the foster homes grow up in a lonely environment. Therefore, it makes no sense in prohibiting gay individuals from adopting homeless children who need love, warmth and sense of belonging. However, there have been increasing instances of same sex couples that have adopted a child and have been successful guardians. Society has shown signs of distrust in a parenting where both the parents are gays or lesbians, restricting parenting to only the heterosexual couples. Gay adoption is more about the children who wish to enjoy the comforts of home and part of a family. The issue cannot be resolved if adoption bans are imposed on the grounds of one's sexual orientation. Researchers argue that a child might develop tendencies similar to those of gay individuals if gay parents do the upbringing. Two fathers cannot replace one mother; neither can they change the outlook of the masses. Gay households are always at a risk of breaking up sooner or later. The condition becomes worse if conflict develops between both the gay partners, which is bound to happen as per the surveys conducted on this subject. The young child has to cope up with the anti-gay society and build up a strong psychological strength in the process. Inspite of these shortcomings, one must not forget that gay parents can provide a good upbringing to the adopted child. A lot of continuous learning is required to raise a child into a mature and responsible adult. Pedophilia has nothing to do with homosexuality according to proven scientific studies. This should give a relief to conservative minded people who have mistakenly associated both the terms. How can a group of people show bias towards homosexual couples and presume that they alone have the capability to become good parents? Gay adoption brings pleasure in the life of both the gay partners who can shower their love on the homeless children and bring a smile on their face!! |
